This year, Forbes named Adriana Lima the second-highest paid model. She’s been in the business for 20 years, and Victoria’s Secret has employed her angel abilities for the majority of that time. Now, at 35 years old, she’s starting to see a shift in her personal brand. In a new interview, the supermodel tells Into the Gloss, “Now I’m at a time in my life where I’m representing more mature women. And I think women age so beautifully, and that’s why I plan on modeling for as long as I can, because I want to show them—the world, the business—that mature woman can be a model and be beautiful.”

The job has evolved at this point to be more inclusive, and not just for those who are over 30. Lima told Vanity Fair over e-mail, “There is so much more opportunity overall and people are more open to different types of women and beauty.”

Longevity has become Lima’s calling card. She’s walked the most Victoria’s Secret runways of any previous angel, dubbing herself the V.S. show’s “grandma” two years ago. Gisele Bündchen, who was also among the Brazilian model wave of in the late 90s/early 00s to gain unprecedented international success, retired from the runway in April of last year. Like Lima, Bündchen is in her mid-30s and had walked for two decades, but Lima’s presence on the runway hasn’t faltered. In fact, it may have increased. She’s a staple at Marc Jacobs shows, and has walked in Balmain, Bottega Veneta, and more in the past few seasons. As Vogue.com points out, she walked the Versace runway for the first time in over a decade last spring, a move that signals a renewed relevance for the model.

“I love working, and that’s it,” she continued to V.F., expanding on how runway fits into this stage of her career. “I love being on set for campaign shoots, on a runway for amazing designers and brands, on press days launching new products, or on a TV set going through different scenes. Whatever way that might be, I love working and I want to continue doing it all as long as I possibly can.“
